Remote Access
CONNECTING TO THE CARROLL SERVERIf you are off campus and would like to connect to the "Carroll" server,
1. If you are connecting from a WINDOWS machine:
a. Go to a web browser and type:
https://vpn.unc.edu/
b. In the “login” box,
GROUP should have "UNCCampus" selected
Type your onyen and onyen password
For the group name and password, click here.

Click "login" and next you have to map the network drive.
c. Go to "My Computer"
d. Click "Tools" in the menu bar and select "Map Network Drive"
e. In the dialogue box, for "Drive”, choose any letter between "N:" and "Z:"
f. For "Folder" type: \\carroll.ad.unc.edu\classes
g. Make sure "Reconnect at login" is checked and click "Finish"
h. At the login screen:
For "User name:" type "AD\" then your onyen "AD\onyen"
For "Password:" type your onyen password and click "ok"

i. Now you should be connected to the Carroll server.
2. If you are connecting form a MAC machine, please follow the instructions located here to establish your VPN connection: http://help.unc.edu/mac-vpn
a. Once you have connected to the UNC VPN, click on the "Finder" icon in the dock

b. in the menu bar, click "Go" and then click "Connect to Server…" in the drop down menu

c. In the dialogue box, under "Server Address:" type
afp://carroll.ad.unc.edu
next click "Connect"

d. Type in your onyen username and onyen password and click "Connect"

e. Select the volume you want to mount and click "OK"

f. The drive should appear on your desktop. Double-click it and now you are connected to Carroll.
