His three main platforms are protecting the natural environment, protecting neighborhoods and maintaining a good relationship with the University. Foy hopes to see the completion all of the projects the Town Council has started. Kevin Wolff hometown.aol.com/kwolffmayor Challenger. This is Wolff's second time running for the seat of mayor based on the premise that every incumbent should have a challenger. He earned 21 percent of the vote. Running on a platform of Smart Growth for more efficient land development processes and a control of government spending. Chapel Hill Town Council (4 Seats)Matt Czajkowski mattcfortownc.org Challenger. "A Choice for Change" Has lived in Chapel Hill nine years. He has a financial background and hopes to provide a diverse opinion. He wants to improve downtown development by promoting business in Chapel Hill, improve bike lanes and make government spending more efficient. Sally Greene sallygreene.org Incumbent. "Grassroots for Greene" Has lived in Chapel Hill for more than 20 years. Greene has served on the Town Council since 2003 and previously held a position on the Planning Board. Greene hopes to continue to work on proposals to require affordable housing, preserve neighborhoods and the environment and to end homelessness through Orange County's Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. Cam Hill camhillforcouncil.org Incumbent. "Chapel Hill First" Has lived in Chapel Hill all his life. Hill has served on the Council since 2003 and has served on seven committees. Ran for mayor in 2001 before dropping out to endorse Foy. Running on a platform of continuing economic development downtown, historic preservation and keeping tax-increases to a minimum. Will Raymond campaign.willraymond.org Challenger. "Preserving Chapel Hill's Charm Because Our Past Informs Our Future" Lived in Chapel Hill since the '80s. Served on Technology Board, Horace-Williams Citizen Committee, Downtown Parking Task Force and ran for Council unsuccessfully two years ago. He wants to see major changes in the Council's policies and provide a differing opinion. Penny Rich pennysforchange.com Challenger. "Small Changes, Big Results." Lived in Chapel Hill 11 years. Rich served on the OWASA board for a 6-year term starting in 2001. She hopes to manage growth, promote small business on Franklin Street, promote transit and protecting the environment, especially water and sewer. Bill Strom stromforcouncil.com Incumbent and Mayor Pro Tem since 2005. "Proven Effective Leadership" Strom has served two terms on the Council taking part in many committees and earning many awards and acknowledgments. Strom hopes to continue the work the Council has been doing and keeping Chapel Hill's best interests. Jim Ward Incumbent. Ward has served two terms on the Council. Ward has served on the Parks and Recreation Commission, Greenways Commission, Library Committee, Design Review Board, UNC Land Use Planning Panel, Sustainability Committee and UNC Horace Williams Zoning Work Group. He hopes to continue to provide sustainability for social equity, economic vitality and environmental integrity.
