Paul Jones is the director of ibiblio, a contributor-run, digital library of public domain and creative commons media in the Office of Information Technology Service at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is also Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Information and Library Science.

Jones has a particular interest in social networks and in New Media. He was the first manager of SunSITE.unc.edu, one of the first World Wide Web sites in North America. He is the author of "The Web Server Book" (Ventana, 1995) and numerous articles on topics such as digital libraries and the Open Source movement.

Jones was a judge of the 2006 International Blooker Prize and is chair of the Judges for the 2007 Blooker. Jones has been an invited speaker at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, at the Berkman Center at Harvard Law School, at the University of Granada (Spain), at the Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi), US Environmental Protection Agency, North Carolina Press Association, and the Librarians' Association at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Jones was also an organizer for Podcaster.com and for BarCampRDU in 2006.
