Paul O'Connor teaches news reporting. In the past, he has taught editorial and advocacy writing, news writing and legislative reporting.

O’Connor has a wealth of political and government reporting experience with more than 32 years of professional newspaper experience. He began specializing in state government reporting during a three-year stint with The Raleigh (N.C.) Times, 1979-82. He spent 22 years writing a statewide, syndicated column on state politics for the Capitol Press Association and was an editorial writer for the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal for 12 years where he remains a member of the editorial board. He is an active freelancer.

O’Connor taught writing and editing at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Pembroke, N.C., and a special writing course in the master's program for public administration at N.C. State University in Raleigh, N.C.
