UNC's executive associate provost, Ron Strauss, has announced the members of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication dean's search committee. The committee, fully convened and chaired by Dean Jim Dean of the Kenan-Flagler Business School, includes:

• Cathy Packer – Professor, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication
• Sheetal Patel – Doctoral student, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication
• Erica Beshears Perel – Alumna, Chapel Hill, N.C.
• Kurt Ribisl – Associate Professor, Health Behavior and Health Education, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health
• Daniel Riffe – Cole Eminent Professor, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication
• Lucila Vargas – Professor, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication
• Jan Yopp – Dean, Summer School and Professor, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication

Committee chair Jim Dean will meet with journalism school faculty, staff and students to get ideas, suggestions and questions about the field and the qualities potential candidates should have. 

The first job of the search committee will be to write a position description, and advertisements for the position will follow.
