Fred Thomsen joined the school in March 1999 and has extensive experience in academic computing support. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he was technical manager for Social Science Research Computing at the University of Chicago. Before that he had
been network administrator for the Population Studies Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
In his doctoral studies at Penn, he specialized in conversational narrative and the ethnography of interpersonal communication.
