Assistant Dean for Executive Education and Distance Education M.A. in Journalism, University of Maryland-College Park B.A. in American Studies, UNC-Chapel Hill Louise Spieler joined the School in July 2004 as assistant dean for distance education and executive education. She oversees more than a dozen seminars, workshops and other programs the School offers to professionals each year. She also manages the School's on-line Certificate in Technology and Communication program. Prior to joining the School, Spieler spent more than a decade in senior management positions with national trade and professional associations, including the Council of State Governments in Lexington, Ky., and the Electronic Mail Association, in Washington, D.C. She also founded The Spieler Group, an association-management firm that provided staff support to national organizations of state and local government officials. Most recently, Spieler was the co-owner and publisher of The News-Record, the county weekly newspaper in Marshall, N.C.
