Dougall elected to AEJMC research committee
Elizabeth Dougall, assistant professor teaching public relations in the school, was elected to the research committee for the national academic organization, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. She is one of three professors from across the nation elected to serve on the research committee. Dougall is co-leader of a project with the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome to develop a statewide media campaign that will address social norms about shaking and reinforce program messages through caregivers, family and friends. Her work is part of a larger statewide project involving experts from both UNC and Duke. The project is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Duke Endowment.
A recipient of last year’s Ed Vick Prize for innovative teaching, Dougall teaches graduate and undergraduate classes designed to partner students with corporations, government agencies and community organizations to develop values-driven strategic communication campaigns.
Her 20-year career includes extensive industry experience in strategic communication management and counseling for organizations in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Canada.
