Regular meetings are held with national and local advertising professionals as guest speakers. The Advertising Club participates in the AAF national student advertising competition.

Carolina Association of Black Journalists
This organization is open to any student in the School or University. Its primary purpose is to support and encourage careers for minority students in mass communication and to sensitize media coverage and employment practices toward minorities. It is recognized as a UNC-Chapel Hill student organization, and because its membership is predominantly black, it is affiliated with the National Association of Black Journalists. The chapter maintains a directory of minority journalism students and coordinates, with the minority adviser, attendance at job fairs throughout the Southeast and in several metropolitan areas. Visit the Carolina Association of Black Journalists Web site.

Electronic News Association of the Carolinas
This student organization is affiliated with ENAC, formerly the Radio-Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas. Through monthly meetings and other projects, ENAC has close contact with news directors in North Carolina and South Carolina. The two-state administrative headquarters of ENAC is also in the School.

Global Media Student Association
The Global Media Student Association is an organization for JOMC students interested in international media. GMSA aims to enhance the connection among both incoming and present international students as well as between international and American students in the School. This includes giving incoming international students help for settling in, facilitating interaction among international students, and raising the level of interest and awareness of international issues within our department. Visit the Global Media Student Association Web site.

Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association was established in August 1995 and was approved for official University recognition in September 1995. The association was founded as a social, academic and preprofessional organization serving graduate students in the School. Visit the Graduate Student Association Web site.

Public Relations Student Society of America
This organization is affiliated with the Public Relations Society of America, the largest organization of public relations professionals in the world. Students interact with professionals in the area at monthly meetings. Visit the Public Relations Student Society of America Web site.

Society of Professional Journalists
Students interested in journalism careers are encouraged to join the campus chapter of the national Society of Professional Journalists. Student membership may be transferred to professional chapters upon graduation. Monthly meetings offer sessions with professionals and other specialized programs. Each year the chapter sponsors a seminar on how to apply for a job. The student chapter is associated with professional chapters on regional and national levels, and students are encouraged to attend annual meetings at both levels. Visit the Society of Professional Journalists Web site.

Visual Communication Student Group
An umbrella group for the School's student chapters of the National Press Photographers Association and the Society for News Design. The student chapter of the Society for News Design was organized to provide students with greater exposure to graphic design and a direct link with professional publication designers. The chapter sponsors workshops, seminars and portfolio reviews; takes field trips; brings in visiting professionals; and holds social events. The student chapter of the National Press Photographers Association provides students with a direct link to working press photographers. The group sponsors and attends critique sessions, workshops and seminars relating to all aspects of photojournalism. It also conducts photography trips and social events.
