Undergraduate students choose to concentrate within one of five sequences in the school. Each sequence requires some specific courses in addition to courses required for all majors in the school. Most students in the news-editorial sequence plan to seek jobs with newspapers or magazines after graduation. All courses stress full, fair and accurate reporting. Sequence head: Associate Professor Bill Cloud - Advertising
Introduces students to the branding of products through communication, including targeting audiences, deciding strategy and creating campaigns. Sequence head: Professor John Sweeney - Public relations
Prepares students for public relations jobs in agencies, nonprofit organizations, government and corporations. Writing skills and ethical standards are emphasized. Sequence head: Associate Professor Lois Boynton

Prepares students for careers in television, radio, corporate television and Internet-based news operations. Sequence head: Associate Professor Charlie Tuggle - Visual communication (photojournalism, graphic design and multimedia)
Provide students with the skills needed to succeed as visual communication professionals in photojournalism, graphic design and multimedia design and production jobs. Sequence head: Professor Rich Beckman
